Here are the materials you'll need:
Step 1: Firstly, a sunny day isn’t required, however it will help! For this experiment, you will need rapid evaporation of the water to form the crystals, so pick somewhere that’s warm and dry to grow the crystals (a sunny porch or window is great).
Step 2: Use scissors to cut black (or another dark colour) construction paper so that it will fill the bottom of the pan.
Step 3: Add 1 tablespoon of Magnesium Sulphate Heptahydrate (Epsom Salts) to 1/4 warm water. Stir until the salt is dissolved.
Step 4: Put the construction paper in the pan and pour the salt solution over the paper. Then put the pan in the place you have selected to grow the crystals. As the water evaporates, you will start to see lots of spiky crystals. To see your crystals up-close, use a magnifying glass.
