DIY Valentine's Day Bath Bombs

This Valentine's Day, surprise your partner with a special gift by creating your own bath bombs!

Here are the materials you'll need:

• Large Mixing Bowl
• Bath Bomb Moulds
• Kitchen Scales
• Bottle with Trigger Spray Attachment
• Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate
• Citric Acid
• 10ml Fragrance or Essential Oil of your choice
• Pink liquid colouring

Step 1: Begin by measuring out 300g of Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate (Sodium Bicarbonate) and 100g of Citric Acid into the large mixing bowl. Thoroughly mix the two ingredients together until you achieve a consistent texture.

Step 2: Add a few drops of pink liquid colouring at a time to the mixture and quickly blend them in to prevent excessive fizzing.

Step 3: Measure 10ml of your preferred fragrance or essential oil and add it to the mixture. Most oils will not cause excessive fizzing, but if you're using citrus oils, mix them in quickly and thoroughly. It's important to note that you shouldn't let the mixture stand for too long as it will slowly start to set.

Step 4: Using the bottle with the trigger spray attachment, gradually spray a small amount of water onto the mixture while continuously working it. Keep mixing to prevent excessive fizzing. Be cautious and only add enough water so that the mixture starts to hold together lightly when squeezed in your hand.

Step 5: Test the mixture's consistency by squeezing a small amount in your hand. It should hold together without being overly damp. Once you reach this point, work quickly to compress the mixture into your chosen bath bomb moulds. Take care when handling the mixture to avoid any spillage since it may not have fully set yet.

Step 6: Leave the bath bombs in the moulds for approximately 20-30 minutes, or until they have hardened. You can use various types of moulds, such as ice cube trays, small yogurt pots, silicone baking moulds, or cupcake moulds. 

Step 7: After 20-30 minutes, the bath bombs should be sufficiently hard. Gently remove them from the moulds and let them dry. If the bath bombs haven't hardened enough, leave them in the moulds for a little longer before testing again. Remember to wash the moulds immediately after use, allowing them to be reused in the future.
