Erupting Apples

Here are the materials you'll need:

• Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate
• Acetic Acid 6%
• Water
• Liquid soap (baby shampoo/dish soap)
• Small Bowl
• Tray (something to contain the mess)
• Gloves
• Bottle with Oil Nozzle

Step 1: In a bowl, combine 1 cup of Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate, 1 tbsp of liquid soap, and 1 tbsp of water. Mix them together thoroughly.

Step 2: Once you have achieved a nice, doughy texture, scrape the mixture out of the bowl and shape it into a ball. Complete by adding a leaf.

Step 3: To make the apple erupt, take a bottle with an oil nozzle and fill it with Acetic Acid 6%. Place the apple in a bowl and ensure that the bowl is on a tray to catch any spills. Now, carefully squirt the Acetic Acid 6% onto the apple using the bottle with the oil nozzle. Watch as the apple erupts before your eyes!

Make sure to perform this step in a tray to minimize mess. The tray will help contain any overflow.
