Chlorine may help keep the pool clean however it doesn’t help with causing red, itchy eyes, brittle hair and allergies. A non-toxic alternative is Hydrogen Peroxide, this keeps your pool clean and without unpleasant odours.

Why should pool cleaner be tested?
When exposed to sunlight, Hydrogen Peroxide reacts to create compounds that oxidise and eliminate organic nutrients that would feed bacteria and fungi. This reaction takes place quickly, meaning that frequent use of the pool will require regular testing of the water with test strips to ensure an adequate concentration. Plan to test your water at least weekly to maintain the desired ratio.
Using Hydrogen Peroxide Solution
Hydrogen Peroxide should not be used with diatomaceous earth pool filters, as high concentrations can turn the filter to sludge. Natural rubber fittings or accessories that are vulnerable to oxidation should be replaced with artificial substitutes. Indoor pools must employ an ultraviolet light system to activate the chemical reaction that eliminates microbes.
Treating your pool
To treat your pool, calculate how much Hydrogen Peroxide and water you will need based on your pool size. To allow the Hydrogen Peroxide to work, start the pump to circulate the solution then shut off to allow the solution to work for 24 hours before swimming.
*Be aware – It is strongly not recommended to swim in the pool straight after the solution has been added, ensure 24 hours have passed since the pool was treated before swimming. Swimming in the pool straight after treatment may cause harm to your skin and well-being. Make sure to do your research for how much hydrogen peroxide you should be using*
