What is Methylene Blue 1% Solution? It is an aqueous solution of USP(Pharmaceutical) grade methylene blue, a synthetic dye with the chemical formula C16H18ClN3S, dissolved at a concentration of 1% in high purity distilled water. It is widely used in laboratories for various applications, including staining cells, tissues, and microorganisms to enhance their visibility under a microscope. Methylene Blue is also employed as a redox indicator in titrations, where it changes colour based on the oxidation state of the environment.

High-Quality Formulation: Crafted with carefully sourced USP Grade Methylene Blue powder and Grade 1 Distilled Water, our solution is made with high-quality ingredients to ensure safe and effective use.

Manufactured in the UK: Our Methylene Blue 1% Solution is manufactured and bottled using non-toxic, chemical-resistant bottles, providing reliable and trusted quality to our customers.

Dispensing Options Available: A 100ml pipette option is available for convenient dispensing.

Frequent Uses

Redox Reactions

Widely used as a redox indicator due to its ability to undergo reversible colour changes between its blue oxidised form and colourless reduced form. This makes it an effective tool in demonstrating electron transfer in chemical reactions.

Staining for Microscope Slides

Often used to stain biological specimens for easier observation under a microscope. It binds to acidic cell components, such as DNA and RNA, making structures like nuclei and cell membranes more visible.

Textile Dyeing

Methylene blue can be used to dye natural fibres like cotton, wool, and silk in home textile projects. It produces a rich, long-lasting blue hue, making it a popular choice for DIY fashion or home decor. The dye works well with various textile types, and its water-soluble nature allows for even distribution of the colour, ensuring a uniform finish across fabrics.
